Bug#96652: apt; want message log
Package: apt
Version: 0.5.3
Severity: wishlist
I suggest what I think is a very important feature.
I suggest the apt-get by default create a log in /var/lib/dpkg of every
message appearing when it runs. This would be very helpful when I
forget to run apt-get dselect-upgrade in an Emacs buffer to look at the
warnings printed by the various postinst scripts and similar sources.
Without this feature, I have no way to recover those messages once I run
apt-get on a different console than the one I work on.
