No, I am not, and if you read my patch, you would see that it merely adds
".dpkg-new" to the list of extensions to ignore, thus correctly fixing this
bug.

My comment, which was unrelated to the patch, was that a better approach might
be to accept filenames matching a pattern, rather than excluding filenames with
certain extensions.  This avoids the problem of trying to exclude the temporary
filenames of every editor in existence (including vim, which will create unique
names for successive .swp files for the same file).
