Well, I believe that I used the / option for exactly one package,
which has since been upgraded to the current version, so that should
no longer be affecting me.

Wel, that does sound nice, but as the only symptom I have is apt
breakage, and since the breakage occured starting with the new version
of apt, perhaps you have a suggestion as to where I should look for
problems on my end?
