Announce: a Qt frontend to APT (still very beta)
Hi folks!
I just got a front end to apt going and posted it in anonymous ftp at
http://unilinux.sourceforge.net
you can follow the link to ftp access or get the tarball directly from
ftp:/unilinux.sourceforge.net/pub/unilinux
Get the qaptivate-0.2.tar.gz and tar -xzvf to the directory of your choice
and then PLEASE, READ THE README AND INSTALL! It will tell you what you need
to know :).
Note: this is a call to the adventurous to check out this new app and see
what breaks and give feedback, comments, raves, rants (brief ones please ...)
etc - qaptivate works (although several menus items are as yet unimpelemted)
but its not for really serious use yet ... there, the obligatory warning.
However, if you think it has messed anything up running:
apt-get -f install
<or>
apt-get update
should put everything right again.
Second Note: You will need the beta APT (apt-0.4.7) from
klecker.debian.org/~jgg/apt and libqt2.2 to either run the pre-compiled
(sorry no debs quite yet) or to build your own.
Have fun!
