Oh. Actually, libc6 was one of the packages I was trying to upgrade
at the time. Upgrading just libc6 by itself was one of my attempts
that failed. I guess this is something of a chicken-and-egg problem.

In the mean time, I installed the lot with dpkg -i (two times
required). I will send along a copy of yesterday's status file in the
(unlikely) event you are still interested in it.
