Bug#63242: Segmentation fault error
Package: apt
Version: 0.3.10slink
I have installed Debian m68k onto a Quadra 630 (as well as a SE/30)
on three or four occasions and have had this problem every time:
after the initial Debian install via HTTP using dselect, I cannot use
dselect again to update packages. dselect works fine on the initial
install, but is broken thereafter. In particular, if option 1
(Update) of the dselect menu is selected, the following error message
is given:
/usr/lib/dpkg//methods/apt/update: line 20: 265 Segmentation fault
$APTGET $OPTS update
update available list script returned error exit status 139.
Press RETURN to continue.
Option 3, Install, will give the following error:
installation script returned error exit status 139.
Press RETURN to continue.
I believe that apt is one of the packages that gets updated during
the initial dselect session, so it may be that this more recent
version has a bug in it. How can I downgrade to the previous version
of apt? I have only used dselect for http-type installs; the CD and
other methods of installing packages may work fine.
I am using Debian 2.1, libc6 2.0.7.19981, Linux version 2.0.36, gcc
version 2.7.2.3.
Thanks,
Darryl Tang
