Package: apt
Version: 0.3.14
Severity: wishlist

It would be great if apt-get could support a temporary command line addition
to the URI sources list. This would be useful for adding a single package
on an archive that you don't want to keep the Package list of that archive
current. During this one time install apt-get would not update the Package
lists from the sources.list file but only grab the Package file from the
command line URI.

apt-get --uri "deb http://site.org/debian update/" install package

If package had any depencies then apt would of course use them from the
sites in sources.list.

This is crazyness, it is totally not the way APT should work.

There is an elaborate proposal someplace to make a more complex
sources.list format that would make something similar to this possible
by changing the sources.list with a conditional section.
