Bug#46726: Memory leak bug in apt-get / install-menu
Package: apt
Version: 0.3.13

apt-get update ; apt-get -y dist-upgrade; apt-get -y dist-upgrade

This is after running the dist-upgrade for a second time, when the second time
reports nothing to be done.
What happens is that pdmenu, followed by all my window managers (ctwm,
kdebase, olwm, wmaker, gnome-panel are the relevant processes; I have to kill
them by hand and the next one starts off) start occupying upwards of 100M RAM,
causing a great slow-down of the system. It has happened twice now, only since
the past weekend.
At a pinch, I think it's the install-menu program that's spawning all these
things; pdmenu is the first to go, followed by ctwm etc.

Sorry, can't think of anything off the top of my head...

It's a regular apt-get setup, listing both unstable & stable in that order:
I'm using an http://localhost:OddPortNo/ URL, because I use ssh port-
forwarding through a faster server for speed (56k modem dialup).

It's a regular potato distribution, mirrored against
http://www.mirror.ac.uk/sites/ftp.debian.org/ , but using ssh port-forwarding
as above to get there.

Nothing really appropriate here -
