apt-get works great for me, except for one isp. It could be an isp problem, but could
also be an apt-get problem. I will investigate the problem with the isp further.

When using apt-get with this isp(www.disconnect.unsw.edu.au), I got:

virge:/home/s2193893# apt-get update
Get http://snowcrash.tdyc.com slink/rkrusty Packages
0% [Packages `Waiting for file' 0]http: Bad header line

gzip: stdin: unexpected end of file
ERROR
http://snowcrash.tdyc.com/debian/dists/slink/rkrusty/binary-i386/Packages.gz
  Bad return code from subprocess

It however works fine with all other isps. Please see the following mail
discussion about the detail of this isp:

We use Cisco Web Cache engines, and they do not have addresses. All WWW
requests are routed transparently through one of two caches. You cannot
choose (or not) to use them. They are identical to the same product in use
by other large ISPs, including Telstra Bigpond etc.

If you care to give me specific examples of what does not work I will have
    it investigated.
