Package: apt
Severity: wishlist

It would be nice if there were a way to specify in
/etc/apt/sources.list that if some specified place to get some chunk
of packages is down or doesn't have a package even through its
Packages file says it does or some other problem crops up, apt should
attempt to fetch the desired stuff from some other specified fallback
site before actually giving up. This would avoid the current
necessity of editing /etc/apt/sources.list to eg switch which of three
putatively identical mirrors is accessed when one's favorite mirror
goes down and again when it comes back up.
