Package: apt
Version: 0.0.11
Severity: wishlist
When I currently run apt-get it will list the names of packages to be
installed or kept back, but only lists the number of packages to be upgraded...
root@pos:/usr/doc/apt# apt-get upgrade
Updating package status cache...done
Checking system integrity...ok
The following packages have been kept back
xfnt75 xfntbase
12 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 2 not upgraded.
Need to get 5849k of archives. After unpacking 367k will be used.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n]
I would like it to also list the names of the packages to be upgraded,
perhaps via a command line switch if the current behaviour is desirable.
By listing the names of packages to be upgraded I would feel more
comfortable hitting the 'Y' button to continue. I would also like to run
apt-get from cron as a periodic job and have it email the names of packages
which need to be upgraded. This period could then be set to days/ weeks or
months depending on the usage of the system, but would act as a useful
trigger for maintence staff to realise that there are updated components
available.
