Once the newest apt is in potato, there is no need to keep a separate
location for gnome-apt. My plan is to remove apt from my download
location, but leave up gnome-apt until the override file gets edited
and is put into potato.

The broken-symlink problem occurs in libapt-pkg-dev and is the
/usr/lib/libapt-pkg.so -> libapt-pkg.so.${LIBAPT_MAJOR}
I have set it up so that this link will automatically get updated when
someone (you?) change to major version of libapt-pkg. The problem
occurs when someone updates apt (and therefore the virtual package
libapt-pkg) but does not update their libapt-pkg-dev. This potential
breakage will occur everytime the major version of libapt-pkg is bumped
unless someone remembers to manually add a Conflicts: apt (<= 0.3.x)
where x is the rev immediately prior to the libapt-pkg major version bump.
I mentioned this to the list prior to uploading apt 0.3.1, but no one
responded with any suggestions. I will assume that this is the best
way to handle it and I will add the required Conflicts:, but we have
to remember to update it to avoid future potential problems.
If someone has a better way of doing this, speak now or forever hold your
peace.
The "something else" I think is my failure to warn load enough that the
ftp method was not included. Shouldn't be a problem now. :-)
I am unaware of any other problems. Please point out any or they will
probably slip thru unnoticed. I am also assuming that someone else will
make the upload to potato. If you want me to do it, give me a shout.
