Subject: apt: Downlaod should copy when using file:// urls?
To: submit@bugs.debian.org
X-Mailer: bug 3.1.7

Package: apt
Version: 0.3.0
Severity: whishlist

I tried to use apt (compiled out of cvs) to be able to use the
new advanced features (ie mainly a different configuration file).
I want to upgrade my home system with a zip disk (I have a local
debian mirror at work and expensive phone costs:-) so I setup
a directory in a zip disk with the package info required by apt.
At work I used the command:
apt-get -c apt.conf -d dist-upgrade
hoping it will copy the debs I need at home in the archives directory.
This command does nothing, however, as there are the file:// url
in /etc/apt/sources.list: I guess if I use an ftp or http url
apt-get will download them fine.
Would it be possible to get it to copy the files in this case
(maybe after confirmation)?.
