odd behaviour in apt-get

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

I thought I'd run apt-get -s dist-upgrade to see what it would tell me.
I was rather disturbed when it said:
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  gnus xemacs20-mule-canna-wnn xemacs20-bin bbdb skk

So, it wants to remove my editor and not replace it. This is rather
bothersome behaviour. I do have libc6, sendmail, and apache on hold.
(The last two, I always build myself.)

Is apt-get telling me I should just use vi?
