suggestions
I think there should be a way, more or less accessible, to specify a fake
package, for two purposes:
- One is the purpose currently served by the equivs package, that is,
create a fake package for other packages to depend on. This is useful
if, for example, I want to maintain my own version of emacs (possibly
with pretest versions) and want to use other packages that depend on
emacs.
- The other is for the opposite: I want to create fake packages that reuire
some package. This is useful if I want to install StarOffice40, which
requires the libc5 version of libXpm, and want to prevent configuration
errors, that is, removing the libXpm package by mistake.
I think these features could be part of the forthcoming user interface.
Thanks for reading.
