Eh? guide.text.gz seems perfectly well formed to me. Please be more
specific..

Either ftp1 had a transient error or you are not giving the exact error
message. Judging by your comments you have an old version of APT that is
set to use frozen as a distribution, you will have to change the
sources.list to point to stable, not frozen.

Right now ftp1 works perfectly fine for me...

Get APT for bo 0.1.4 at http://www.debian.org/~jgg It's FTP method does
not require these perl modules and will run fine on your mirror with no
additional setup. I think it also has a more correct sources.list, though
it still may be a bit behind for non-us...

None of these issues are APT bugs persay so I am closing the bug report.

Where did you download this old version of apt from? I will see that it is
updated to the new version.
