Re: Bug#24799: Some suggestions for the apt method in dselect
A couple more things on the same subject:
- Having a to press Enter when some packages have been updated also come
handy to me for a reason other than looking at logs: I usually run
Update in a virtual console, then switch to do other job. With the
old ftp method, when I go back to the dselect console, if I find a
prompt I see there have been updates. If I just find the dselect
window, I know there have not been any updates (all Packages files
were up to date), so I don't even need to do the Select thing.
- In the old ftp method, after having chosen the host and directories, a
sanity check was made to see if everything was well. I think apt
would benefit from a similar feature.
