More on the breakage. If you want to reproduce it, add
deb http://llug.sep.bnl.gov/debian unstable main contrib non-free
To your source list. The Packages files do not yet exist for
slink. I tried
./apt-get clean;
./apt-get update
(error 404, no such file). No crash.
./apt-get -m update
Segmentation faul
./apt-get clean;
./apt-get -m update
Segmentation fault
./apt-get update
Segmentation fault
So, I see no pattern. If you can not reproduce this, let me
know, and I shall fire up the trusty debugger.
