Bug#683526: More info



Some additional comments:
I tested on wheezy, with wheezy's default 3.2 kernel.
Since modesetting isn't in the xserver 1.12 autoconfig driver list yet
(it's in xserver 1.13), user needs to add an /etc/X11/xorg.conf:

Section "Device"
        Identifier "gma"
        Driver "modesetting"
EndSection

Then this bug can be verified, and everything is still true.

There are also rendering issues that don't appear in newer kernels, but
this is the story of another bug report...
