Bug#599223: xserver-xorg-video-intel: [965GM] drm:i915_hangcheck_elapsed, Regression

On my 855GM system (JVC XP731) with a 2.6.35.10 and an empty
xorg.conf, this was fine with version 2:2.13.0-4 .

With 2:2.13.0-5, the bug has returned with a vengeance. Within
seconds after X startup, the kernel complains

[drm:i915_hangcheck_elapsed] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed... GPU hung
[drm:i915_do_wait_request] *ERROR* i915_do_wait_request returns -5 (awaiting 1981 at 1980)

and X basically hangs (mouse pointer moves, switch to console is
possible, but now other drawing takes place), with the dreaded

(EE) intel(0): Detected a hung GPU, disabling acceleration.

in Xorg.log.

Simply saying

Section "Device"
  Identifier "i-LCD"
  Driver "intel"
  Option "Shadow" "off"
EndSection

in xorg.conf -- which I had half expected to bring back the good
2:2.13.0-4 behaviour -- lets X run, but yields horrible redraw
problems in at least gvim and urxvt.

Cheers,

        Markus
