Ok there is no preferred mode at all, it probably explains why you don't
get 1280x1024 by default and why you need to choose a PreferredMode in
xorg.conf
or run xrandr --output VGA --mode 1280x1024 after starting X.
It's not clear there is something better to expect soon here.
