Bug#430885: xserver-xorg-video-intel: new intel driver doesn't support all modes of i810 driver
My monitor can only support up to 80 on this resolution.
The xrandr output is before I've tried the preferred mode.
Do you also need the output after I'm defining Option "PreferredMode" "1280x1024_75.00" ?
If there is a border related problem - I have no problem to install an updated version from experimental and test it.
Cheers,
Gal

Good to know, so your monitor probably does not have 1280x1024 as a
preferred mode and thus the driver does not use by default.
The distortion could be related to a i9xx bug in 2.1. I think it
appeared in 2.0.0-6. Does the problem go away if you try 2.0.0-5 or
latest upstream git? FYI, 2.0.0-5 is available at
http://snapshot.debian.net/archive/2007/06/22/debian/pool/main/x/xserver-xorg-video-intel/

According to the xrandr output below, it might be 108 or 135MHz instead
of 75.

Possibly the same "border" bug as above,
2.0.0-5 or latest git might help.
I'll see if we can package a new snapshot in the near future.

I don't see any preferred mode here (marked with a + or a *, I never
remember). Does xrandr *without --verbose* help?
