Stable/oldstable release management - introduction

Hi all,

I've been talking with Branden privately about helping out with updates
for Woody and Sarge.

As my knowledge of X is currently limited to the user side and my
knowledge of C is even less, we ended up with the option of me handling
what Branden called "release management" for the old releases, hopefully
freeing up time for him and others to concentrate on getting Xorg into
Etch.

I've already got commit access to the repo and done a successful trial
rebuild of 4.1.0-16woody6, so I guess now that I actually am a DD
(account is 2 weeks old ;-) and Sarge has released I should make good on
my offer.

I'm probably going to need some (a lot of?) help the first time around, so
please bear with me.

The other area in Debian I am currently involved with is the installer; I
don't have any packages to my name.

Cheers,
Frans Pop
