While I highly appreciate all work on Debian and xfree, let me add for the
record that WordPerfect8 for Linux that exists as Debian packages is also
dependent on xlib6g. The conflict forces me to use VMware to access my 
WP files as long as Abiword cannot handle all the intricacies of the subtle
formatting options in WP.
