Package: www.debian.org
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I visited Distrowatch.com and read the writeup on Debian GNU/Linux.
I was surprised to see this: "Debian comes with over 20,000 packages"
on Distrowatch and "Debian comes with over 29000 packages" at intro/about
when the upcoming Wheezy release release notes show "This new release of
Debian again comes with a lot more software than its predecessor squeeze;
the distribution includes over 12800 new packages, for a total of over
37493 packages.". There's also no mention of another great feature of
Debian GNU/Linux, the APT package management system which makes managing
hundreds or thousands of packages on thousands of computers as easy as
managing software on one.

To the extent that more people using Debian GNU/Linux will make the world
a better place, I suggest these features not be "undersold". I propose
this wording for that paragraph,
"Of course, the thing that people want is application software: programs
to help them get what they want to do done, from editing documents to
running a business to playing games to writing more software.
Debian comes with over 37000 packages (precompiled software that is
bundled up in a nice format for easy installation on your machine) and
a package manager (APT) and other utilities that allow a user to manage
thousands of packages on thousands of computers as easy as installing a
single application. All of this is free."
