incomplete address. He provided me the correct address and I've been able

Downloading http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/i386/install.en.pdf
(as linked from http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/i386/) works
fine here. What error message do you get exactly?
You could also try one of the mirrors, for example
http://www.nl.debian.org/releases/stable/i386/
http://www.uk.debian.org/releases/stable/i386/
http://www.au.debian.org/releases/stable/i386/
