Yeah, MSIE is quite buggy in that regard. But buggy browsers are best
ignored. Anyway, as Denis notes, for URLs without extensions, MSIE
generally works quite well (unless you're sending text/plain or
application/octet-stream, where it overrides and tries to guess :-/ ).
