Re: Opening doors for women in computing

Hi!

Girls and women will think and read first - boys and men are learning more by try and error. So girls are often pushed aside - even if they have the better ideas to solve a problem.

And, maybe, even if they would be faster trying their way...

So I think it's necessary to lead girls early to the computer telling them they coulndn't "destroy" anything. So they get the courage to compete with boys successfully.

I am not sure, if you (Michael) think, try and error is the right way to do things.

What I hear from younger women nowadays is that more and more of them try to behave like their male colleagues, while on the other side a change in male behaviour can be noticed (many more not thinking to be superior to women). But I think that women still will not success on the same level as men do. They still have be better to get recognition. And even if they ignore that, they will feel it as their own deficit as women often did, when I was young and only a few women were to be seen in technical jobs or studying nature science and technology.

greetings

Jutta
