you might want to ask this directly to the debian-ipv6 mailing list but:

~ inet addr:192.168.1.6 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
~ inet6 addr: 3ffe:100:e:3::6/64 Scope:Global
~ inet6 addr: fe80::208:74ff:fea1:f61c/64 Scope:Link
as example..
the 3ffe or 2001 addresses are routed over the global inet. the fe80 instead
is the link local address.
