Just from reading your ITP I'm already interested. I'm adding the Debian XMPP Team to this mail to make them aware. You can find info about the team at https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/pkg-xmpp and we have a multi-user chat you can join too at xmpp:xmpp-team@conference.debian.org?join

I don't know much about Python but I'll keep an eye on this project and consider contributing tests if I'm able.
