Description : Directory watcher uploading to remote storage via rclone (tested with WebDAV/Nextcloud)
Instant Remote Storage monitors a local directory and mirrors files to a
remote using rclone. It works with most rclone-supported backends (tested
with WebDAV/Nextcloud). It normalizes filenames based on MIME type, treats
renames as remote moves, and performs crash-safe two-phase uploads. A small
helper configures a templated systemd unit for simple “drop anything here”
workflows.
Rationale / usefulness:
- Simple “dropbox-like” workflow for any rclone-supported backend.
- Lightweight: POSIX shell + inotify-tools + rclone; no long-running daemons beyond systemd unit.
- Provides systemd integration, manpages, wrapper and setup helper.
Packaging notes:
- Standards-Version: 4.6.2; debhelper-compat 13.
- Depends: rclone, inotify-tools, file; Recommends: xdg-utils.
- Lintian: clean aside from pedantic watch-signature notice.
I intend to maintain this package and I am seeking a sponsor for the initial upload.
