Package: wnpp Severity: normal Owner: James Montgomery <james@bitrefactory.com> Control: affects -1 src:libbs2b Control: block 1007187 by -1 Hi - I intend to adopt the libbs2b package. The package is currently orphaned (see Bug #1007187), and I plan to resume maintenance. As part of the adoption, I propose modernizing the package and switching the upstream source to the more active and maintained fork at: https://github.com/alexmarsev/libbs2b This GitHub-hosted fork: - Has a more permissive MIT license, - Offers cleaner and more modern autotools integration, - Is already packaged in other distributions (e.g., Alpine), - Is actively used in audio toolchains. My initial goals for the package include: - Switching to the GitHub source while preserving ABI compatibility, - Updating packaging to current Debian Policy and debhelper standards, - Fixing all Lintian warnings, - Verifying and improving reproducibility, - Publishing work to Salsa and requesting sponsorship via mentors. I will update the existing orphan bug with a cross-reference to this ITA. -- JamesAttachment: signature.asc

I am closing this ITA bug #1110437 as a procedural error in how I filed it. According to the Work-Needing and Prospective Packages (WNPP) documentation at https://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/: > "ITA: Intent To Adopt" - You should not directly submit a report with this tag. ITA reports/bugs should be converted from RFA or O reports instead. I incorrectly filed a new ITA bug instead of following the proper procedure, which is to retitle the existing orphan bug #1007187 from "O:" to "ITA:". I'll correct this by retitling bug #1007187 and setting myself as the owner of that bug for the package adoption. Best, JamesAttachment: signature.asc
