Description : Linux Mint locales and languages configuration tool
mintlocale is the Language and Locales management tool used in Linux Mint.
It is compatible with cinnamon, MATE, XFCE, and (presumably) LXDE. It provides
a user interface for langauge selection that is currently not available for
these DE's in Debian. this can make it much easier for those who either:
A: Do not have the time/know-how to change the locales on the command line
or
B: See all the abbreviated locale codes and have not the faintest clue what
to do.
LXQT, GNOME, GNOME-Flashback, and KDE all have their own built-in software for
this, but it is specific to their Desktop Environments, whereas mintlocale
works on multiple DE's and provides that "missing piece" from their settings.
This, to me personally, has been the one missing piece of the puzzle for Debian
on the desktop, and it would be amazing to see it finally brought into the fold.
A separate RFP will be filed for its unpackaged dependency, APTKit, and
it will contain a reference to this report.
Thank you so much for your time,
-John
