Description : easy-to-use, privacy-friendly, multi-track audio editor and recorder, based on Audacity

Tenacity is based on Audacity's code (version 3.0.X). It was created in response to controversy surrounding Muse Group's acquisition of Audacity and their addition of opt-in telemetry. Since then, Tenacity has merged with two other forks (Saucedacity and Audacium) and is now the most actively developed fork.

The latest stable release was issued in November 2023. Tenacity is diverging further from the original software, while Muse Group is trying to integrate Audacity more closely with their other products.

As a result, it may be worth creating an official Debian package for Tenacity in the future. The developers behind Tenacity—which I am not part of—have also expressed interest in working with Linux distribution packagers.
