Bug#992999: ITP: unyt -- Python package for handling numpy arrays with units.

It would be good to clarify. There is another package I maintain in
Debian, udunits, thats a C library but also provides a "canonical" units
database. It would be good not to duplicate (reuse libudunits-data in
unyt etc ?)
I know that the situation if far from perfect; however both unyts and
astropy.units are currently hand-written (and hand-optimized) and do not
have a structured "database" behind. This will probably make it
difficult to unify them. And both packages are so deeply integrated in
their "universe" (astropy resp. yp-project) that even a unification
within the (rather small) astronomy community did not happen yet.
