Description : graphical analytics tool for data mining

KNIME Analytics Platform is the open source software for creating
data science. Intuitive, open, and continuously integrating new
developments, KNIME makes understanding data and designing data
science workflows and reusable components accessible to everyone.

Features:
- Visual workflows
- Nodes for the entire data science life cycle
- Tool blending from any source
- Shape your data: Derive statistics; Aggregate, sort, filter,
and join data; Clean data; Extract and select features.
- Leverage Machine Learning & AI: Build machine learning models;
Optimize model performance; Validate models; Explain machine
  learning models; Make predictions.
- Discover and share insights: Visualize data; Display summary
statistics; Export reports; Store processed data.
- Scale execution with demands: Build workflow prototypes;
Scale workflow performance; Exercise the power of in-database
  processing.

Consider answering the following questions:
 - why is this package useful/relevant?

it is a fist class application for data scientist.
It is a RAD application that let people start managing data
also without having programming skill.

 - is it a dependency for another package?

no

 - do you use it?

no, I have seen a tutorial.
It was presented also at the LinuxDay Italy (Italian language)
https://video.linux.it/videos/watch/e56b5e8b-8d98-4222-9a1d-102c527579d8

 - if there are other packages providing similar functionality,
   how does it compare?

I have see other package that can be used to obtain the same
results, but all need you to have programming skill, you must
know wery well where are things, what instruction you must use,
how to combine and set variable values, ...
You must know a lot of thing and have some skills before you
can start playing with they.
I have see that there is elki in Debian.
There is also weka in Debian.
There is also keras in Debian.
Probably others.
But I don't think that there is someone that let you create a
data flow without programming and in a very simple and intuitive
mode.

- how do you plan to maintain it?

No, I do not plan to maintain it. I will only report to "Debian"
attention this software that is very advanced.

I have see that is packaged by some GNU/Linux distro:
