Bug#898244: ITP: node-modern-syslog -- native syslog binding for Node.js

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Xavier Guimard <x.guimard@free.fr>

* Package name    : node-modern-syslog
  Version         : 1.1.4
  Upstream Author : Sam Roberts <rsam@ca.ibm.com>
* URL             : http://github.com/strongloop/modern-syslog
* License         : Expat
  Programming Lang: JavaScript
  Description : native syslog binding for Node.js

modern-syslog is the only Node.js library that uses native bindings to the
libc syslog API, is async, can be used as a stream, and is API compatible
with the (deprecated) node-syslog.
It uses Nan, so supports node and io.js

Since node-syslog is deprecated, this library is recommended for Node.js
application that wants to use syslog.

The other proposed alternative library (node-syslog-client #898095) is a
pure JavaScript implementation. It can't be used with an Unix socket and
so requires that syslogd listens on port 514.
