Description : Correcting Observations for Telluric Absorption

Molecfit is a software tool to correct astronomical observations for
atmospheric absorption features, based on fitting synthetic transmission
spectra to the astronomical data. It can also estimate molecular
abundances, especially the water vapour content of the Earth’s
atmosphere.

This is a new dependency of cpl-plugin-kmos.

I will maintain it within the Debian Astro team. A git repository will
be created at

https://salsa.debian.org/debian-astro-team/molecfit.git

Best regards

Ole

Molecfit requires LNFL and LBLRTM to function correctly:

http://rtweb.aer.com/lblrtm_frame.html

which has a discriminating license:

The LNFL software you are downloading has been copyrighted by
Atmospheric and Environmental Research, Inc. (AER) and is proprietary to
AER. AER grants USER the right to download, install, use and copy this
software for scientific and research purposes only. [...]

This makes it impossible to usefully package molecfit, so that I am
closing the ITP.
