Yes, now that I take a closer look I also noticed #799472 [1] and the
history of the problem [2]. I didn't experience this issue, but it looks
like it's a blocker for getting this into Debian.

True. Unfortunately github.com/syndtr/goleveldb does not seem to be API
compatible with github.com/golang/leveldb, so someone would need to
adapt stenographer to work with the different LevelDB engine. I'll bring
it up with upstream.
I think I will close this for now and follow up on stenographer's ITP
[3] once there is progress. Thanks for your input.
