Sofa is a media center aimed at easy usage, minimal configuration and
total integration with the Gnome desktop environment and existing
multimedia applications.

«Software for GNU/Linux are often difficult to use with remote control
and barely readable on TV sets without changing the accessibility
settings. This affects penetration of the GNU/Linux platform in living
rooms.

The suggested solution is to create a platform to handle all
multimedia functionalities of a home theater. The platform aims to
make it easier to use a remote control and have a UI designed
specifically to be read from a greater distance than normal computer
screens. Further more, as a platform, it's behavior is consistent from
one media to another (only one software to deal with, instead of
many).»
