Package: wnpp
Severity: important

I do not want to be unfriendly but storebackup needs better support in packaging upstream versions.

As far as I see the package is not listed in orphaned packages but there is no progress in packaging upstream versions for nearly 4 years

even upstream developer asked for help and did not seem to get help

Hi lopiuh,

I'm closing these bug reports since this isn't the right way to go
about recovering storebackup. By filing an RFA without the maintainer's
permission you are almost hijacking the package.

Having said that I understand it's frustrating that the package hasn't
been uploaded in a long time. I think these are the things you can do:

Bug the MIA team (https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/MIA) to see if they can
handle the situation with Ryan. Eventually the package might get
officially orphaned.

If you or anyone you know wants to help package it, you can try and get
a NMU uploaded right now.

This page has lots of info and links (skip steps 1 and 2):
https://mentors.debian.net/intro-maintainers

Try and base it off the existing git repo if possible:
https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/storebackup.git/

Thanks,
James
