Of course. :) It would great if you could update the package and properly put
it under team umbrella. At the moment packaging is hosted in team
repositories but there is only one maintainer... Please make sure to contact
maintainer first.

Yes, ideally package name should be changed to be in line with policy
although you might begin with updating it first and change name somewhat
later when you build enough confidence.
