I see your point.  However, I’d like to state for the record though that ‘mapping’ is a very common term in contemporary biological sequence analysis and minimap is not the first such tool to bear the word ‘map’ in the name or description.

What would you think about changing the short description to explicitly mention biological sequences. How about ’tool for efficient approximate mapping of long biosequences such as DNA reads’.
One could also think of renaming the package to ‘minimap-bio’ or the like as a lat resort, but I would rather avoid that.
