I sometimes play old games under Wine on newer computers that don't
have CD drives (or find them too slow and annoying to deal with). I
have the CD images created long ago on a backup drive, but the games
need the emulation CDEmu provides to satisfy various copy protection
schemes.

CDEmu has built-in DPM emulation, transfer rate emulation and bad
sector emulation, and support for an extensive range of disc image
types - all of which make this project essential for playing a number
of old games on newer machines without an optical drive.

Debian would certainly benefit from including this software. Since we
package Wine, we should package CDEmu.

Cheers,
Adam
