Isn't the whole point of the readable-stream module to not use the
stream module from Node itself?

As upstream describes it:

Or is the point your trying make that node packages in Debian should
rely on the version included in the nodejs package instead of depending
on a specific version from npm repository?

In that case we should close this RFP/ITP now that the motivation is
documented.
