Bug#649603: RFS: splash -- visualisation tool astrophysics stuff [ITP]

Hi all,

I've got a personal mail from Gurkan, stating that he has no time to
continue with the package and asking me whether I could do it.

While I could prepare the package so that it can be uploaded (insert in
debian-astro's git, update to the newest version etc.), I don't want to
maintain it myself: I never used splash, and I have no idea on how to
deal with its bugs. However, splash has very good reputation, so it is
quite worth to be included in Debian.

So, my question to the more experienced here: Shall I just start, ask
for sponsorship and at the same time issue an RFA? Or is there anyone
here who has interest to take over? -- That would be the ideal solution!

Best regards

Ole
