Still evaluating if it meets my needs though, maybe I was premature with the upload to incoming :-)
Upstream seems to be pretty responsive to my emails, created this library to be portable across platforms and python versions, and is keen to improve it where possible.
So I do think this is a good thing to have in Debian.
