Bug#743268: ITP: crystfel - Suite of programs for processing "serial" diffraction data "snapshots"
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal
Package name : crystfel
Version : 0.5.2
Upstream Author : Thomas White <thomas.white@desy.de>
URL : http://www.desy.de/~twhite/crystfel/tutorial.html
License : GPLv3
Description : CrystFEL is a suite of programs for processing diffraction
data acquired "serially" in a "snapshot" manner. That means: a large
number of individual diffraction patterns, each corresponding to a
random orientation of the crystal, with little or no rotation or
oscillation of the sample. This is exactly the situation encountered
when using the technique of Serial Femtosecond Crystallography (SFX)
with a free-electron laser source, which is the application CrystFEL is
primarily designed for. CrystFEL comprises programs for indexing and
integrating diffraction patterns, scaling and merging intensities,
simulating patterns, calculating figures of merit for the data and
visualising the results.
We have been contacted by Debian developer Frederick Picca who is
developing a new Debian blend, Debian PAN (Photon and Neutron) and
invited to package crystfel. I am one of the main developers of the
software. I will take care of the packaging and mantain the package
