Bug#690143: RFP: accel-pptp -- kernel accelerated pptp and l2tp implementation

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name    : accel-pptp
  Version         : 0.8.3
  Upstream Author : Dmitry Kozlov <xeb@mail.ru>
* URL             : http://accel-pptp.sf.net/
* License         : GPL-2+
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : kernel accelerated pptp and l2tp implementation

Core features are:
 * PPTP server
 * L2TPv2 server
 * PPPoE server
 * Radius including CoA/DM(PoD)
 * Built-in shaper (tbf)
 * Command line interface (telnet)
 * SNMP agent
 * IPv6 including builtin Neighbor Discovery and DHCPv6

A good reason for including this package or the related accel-pppd
package in Debian is that the available pptp implementations in Debian
are userspace based. Thus every transferred packet causes a context
switch and therefore latency. The kernel implementation (available in
wheezy's 3.2 kernel for instance) solves this issue, but yet lacks a
userspace in Debian. This userspace is accel-pptp or accel-pppd.
