Thanks, I've built on top of those and the Introduction to Packaging[1] article and produced a script[2] which will:
1. Automatically download a given version of Twig. 2. Build the .deb file.This works fine on my local machine and in a VM, so from that point of view I'm happy. I'm not sure what to do though in terms of trying to get it into Debian.
